How we assess it

Our movement-based exam, the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), checks cervical mobility alongside thoracic mobility, shoulder mechanics, and the deep neck flexors that stabilize your head all day. We identify which structures are stiff, which are weak, and what reproduces your symptoms.

How we treat it

Guidelines for non-specific neck pain favour a combination of manual therapy and exercise over passive care alone [7][8]. At Boreal that means joint manipulation or mobilization to restore motion, soft-tissue work to settle guarded muscles, and a progressive exercise program targeting the deep neck flexors and mid-back, the changes that hold results between visits [9]. There are no bad exercises, only too much too soon: loading is dosed so tissue adapts.

What to expect

Most mechanical neck pain responds within a few weeks of active care. You will learn simple postural and movement adjustments for desk and phone use that reduce recurrence.

When to seek urgent care

Neck pain with fever, unexplained weight loss, severe pain after trauma, dizziness or visual changes, or arm weakness and numbness should be assessed medically before manual therapy.
